The Peugeot Partner Electric allows 106 miles between charges with a maximum speed of 68 mph. Just like a petrol or diesel engine, this is affected by driving style and the power drain of auxiliary systems like heating or radio, but even so it is a respectable figure. The battery can be charged in 12 hours using a standard three pin domestic mains connection. However, if you have a dedicated car charging point this time is reduced to 8 hours, perfect if the van is parked up at a depot overnight. The load space is 3.3 cubic metres, big enough for 2 Euro pallets and payload is broadly similar to the entry level petrol and diesel engines at 636kg. Entry to the load compartment is made through 180 degree-opening rear doors or a left hand sliding side door.
Quiet to drive, the Partner Electric feels almost exactly the same behind the wheel as the conventionally powered van. The Partner Electric is started as normal with a key and driven as you would in an automatic. Another advantage of driving an electric vehicle is the instant power delivery. There is one gear and all 200Nm of torque is available as soon as you press the accelerator.
