Maxine shows flair on the Catwalk
Maxine Warren, Limesquare's South East Regional Manager, must have enjoyed her first time on the catwalk [see "A Night of Fashion" article 07/05/13], since she has returned to hit the runway for a second time, on the evening of Wednesday 12th February 2014 at the Mayoress' Valentine Ladies' Night in Towcester Town Hall.
Described as an evening of "Fashion and Fun", the evening was a total sell out, and included manicures, and hairdressing by Chair Contemporary Hairdressing. There was also a raffle, the first prize of which was a relaxation day for 2 at the award-winning Day Spa at Whittlebury Hall, which is one of the largest in the country with 23 treatment rooms and a choice of more than 60 treatments.
The main event, however, was the Fashion show. Following an introduction by Mayoress Margaret Lynch, the show began with a special Mother and Daughter display by Jackie's Preloved Clothing and this was followed by Towcester boutique, Drop Dead Gorgeous. The evening culminated in the showcasing of the latest fashions and accessories by Flair Designer Wear, featuring our very own Maxine, and as you can see from this photograph, she looked fantastic!
The whole event was in aid of three different charities. The Talbot Butler Ward, of Northamptonshire Centre for Oncology, cares for cancer patients through diagnosis, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The aim of the ward is to make the patients' stay as stress-free as possible and to help them feel supported.
The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was formed in 2003, and ever since the Air Ambulance has been helping people across the counties of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, saving thousands of lives and keeping many families together. Flying out of Coventry Airport, they attend an average of three rescue missions every single day, even on Christmas Day. Each rescue mission costs an average of £1,700, so more funding is always needed to keep the Ambulance in the Air.
The Towcester Foodbank is one of the Trussell Trust foodbanks. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. Last year the network fed over 128,000 people, with all food being donated by the public and sorted by volunteers.
In total the Valentine Ladies Night raised a huge £790.50 for these charities, a superb achievement. We are already looking forward to seeing what Maxine will be wearing at next year's event!
